About a blog

Nicole

I have to admit, I felt very very fancy in this white lace dress from Lazuli. I’m usually in jeans and a t-shirt during the week when I work from home, and it was so great to get all dressed up. Don’t you agree that we deserve to get really dressed up and feel great? Even if we’ve got no where to go?

I recently discovered The Man Repeller blog (I’m pretty far behind), and I absolutely love her style of writing, her sense of humour and, of course, her sense of style. I had to laugh at her post about personal style bloggers. It’s about how staged our photographs are (including hers), and that we’re not really “looking at something else” or “laughing hysterically at something”. Read it here. I actually can’t explain. Two out of the three photographs of myself in this post are staged. In the first photograph, I was trying to get my hair out of my mouth (thank you Cape Town gale force winds), therefore not staged. Then the second photograph was definitely staged. Listening to Luke say “Ok look here, and smile”.

Oh! Did you see the 5 million steps behind me? So pretty to look at, right? Now try climbing those.

P.S Very grateful that myself and my blog are featured in this months Marie Claire magazine. Here’s a link to the interview (but that’s only if you really want to read it).

  1. I love your dress and your photos are so pretty I don’t object {normally don’t read too many personal style blogs except for MR}. Hope yo have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Hi Nicole, thanks for your always lovely comments, they are so sweet. I really like when you do outfit posts, your style is incredible, feminine and pretty, this is a beautiful dress in a romantic fabric.

  3. yes i feel you. i can see how staged it is, my faves: looking away into the distance, slight pout, pensive look. it’s entertaining really. love your dress btw and thanks again for the mention xx

  4. This is so true! Being a blogger is so much fun, but I have to admit that there are times when I feel quite silly prancing around the streets in sequin skirts and sweatshirts while people are watching. LOL.
