Inspired to inspire

Ulyana Sergeenko is by far one of my favourite fashion designers. Every collection is just such a delight. And it’s lovely to see Natalia closing her show for her. If you’d like to see the full collection, click here.

It’s so quiet around here on this Monday. My interns have deserted me and gone back to college. I miss them already. I received such a beautiful message from the one…she told me she missed me so much and that she thoroughly enjoyed her internship at VL magazine. This makes my heart so warm and happy. It’s a good idea to start from the bottom and to pay your dues, but I don’t believe in making interns run around getting coffee, filing documents or running pointless errands, all the time. They are interning to learn from you. The amount of work my two interns have done in such a short space of time (three weeks) is phenomenal. This includes numerous blog drafts, fashion trend reports, social media admin, assisting on fashion shoots, interview questions, taking photographs for the magazine, garment alterations, website content, illustrations and layout for future issues, and more. In my opinion this is what interning is about: working hard, having fun and having something to add to your portfolio.

  1. Hi Nicole, hope you had a great weekend. If I knew you were looking for interns I would have applied months ago :) My appreciation for the beauty of Ulyana’s garments is only because I see her exquisite work here on your blog.

  2. I LOVE the polka dot skirt!
Your interns are definitely lucky to be able to work and learn from you Nix! And I have to agree with Sam, there are so many pieces and garments I’ve come to appreciate through your lovely blog!! :) Have a lovely day!! Xx

  3. Nicole you are an amazing boss! do you know how many people out there mistreat interns, making them get coffee, file? I am sure they learned a lot from you and while 3 weeks is short, 3 solid weeks is better than 8 weeks of menial tasks.

  4. I’m sure you are an amazing boss Nicole – your interns are lucky to have learnt from such a passionate and talented lady :-)
