P O E T R Y

Last week Thursday we were invited to the V&A Waterfront Poetry store to view their new, trendy enchanted garden window display all in the name of Mothers Day 2011. Talented local artist Megan Hart was asked to hand paint each window display (each taking her five hours) to celebrate the launch of Poetry’s winter collection.Vintage Lifestyle, along with eleven other fellow bloggers and socialites were asked if we’d like to penn our names onto the window display. It was a great honour for me to do so.

We also received a little something for our mums for Mothers Day – thank you Poetry.

Poetry invites brand fans to snap themselves at the window displays and upload images onto www.facebook.com/poetry to win exciting prizes. Also, if you’d like, you can watch Megan Hart paint at Poetry Lifestyle stores nationwide from the 19 – 23 August 2011.

Sianna posted this on her Tumblr (she has one of the best SA Tumblr’s I’ve seen) – had to re-post it here to my readers. Unbelievable.

[Can you see the book flying in mid air?]

I’ve looked at these photographs about a hundred times and every time I do, it makes me super happy.

I had fun making the vinyl headpiece and the pale pink bow ring. Also, my feather headband from Dorothy Perkins was put to great use for our Black Swan look.

My favourite piece was the antique Asian umbrella our neighbour gave to us as a gift when he moved back to Taiwan. It still has oils on it to preserve it. It smells weird, but it is so beautiful. I almost forgot to use it in the shot (thank you Luke for reminding me, I love you). Most of the clothing I provided. I hired one or two items. But it wasn’t about showing readers where to buy the clothes this time – it was about telling a story with fashion and allowing readers to incorporate the looks into their own wardrobes. We enjoyed the challenge too (getting a couch 25km to a forest and hanging expensive clothes in a tree – that was our wardrobe).

I always love working with Marieke and I was so impressed with her make-up skills – she is so talented. The models pulled of every look and were so comfortable with every shot/outfit. The hair was perfect. And most importantly our new photographer, Matthew, who made my vision come to life. He knows exactly what I look for in fashion photography and in the general feel of the pictures.

I have received so many compliments regarding the fashion pages. Thank you team <3

On Friday Luke & I attended the Tom Ford Extreme Eyewear launch.

It was a fabulous venue and the show was really different but really cool. The models came around with the sunnies on silver platters after the show (nice touch)! It was so nice to catch up with Jasna & Mike, Clayton, Marika, Sianna, Roger Norton and Andrea.

Tried on some of the sunglasses – loved them. They are available at the V&A Waterfront branch in Cape Town.

Thank you Extreme Eyewear.

The new issue of Vintage Lifestyle magazine is out. You can read it here
