The comeback of the clog. Good or bad thing?

Who would of thought that the clog shoe would come back to life? Not in my wildest dreams for sure!

Definition of clog: ‘A heavy, usually wooden-soled shoe.’ Why would you wear something so uncomfortable and not really that stylish? Yes “beauty is pain” blah blah, but fashion comes with style and comfort too, right? So far, I’m not convinced. I have my own unique style and I’m not so sure I can pull them off.

Steve Madden’s

These are from the Ralph Lauren collection…maybe the best looking I could find. Thank goodness they’re more stylish than they were back in the day.

My piece of advice: Ladies stick to the OTK boots and steer clear from clogs for now…

Fashion Fundi’s top 10 Fall/Winter looks

1:Over-the-knee-boots

If you don’t have a pair, get a pair…SOON!

Try getting the boots in a neutral colour that goes with most of your clothes. I personally love the black, like these Stella McCartney ones!

2: Leather, leather, leather. Anything leather. Pants, leggings or jackets.

3: Bow blouses are in! I think they’re pretty cute!

4: Ripped denim or ripped tights

From Balmain

5: One-shoulder dresses and tops

Wear one-shoulder tops with your leather pants or jackets. The one-shoulder dress will look great with stockings and a trench. One-shoulder is amazing in floral.

6: Military jackets or waistcoats

Kinda Michael Jacksony…but I like it!

7: Checkers and loose clothing

8: Floral

Vintage floral is stunning. I love that you can wear it with ankle boots, stockings and killer heels or knee-high boots.

9: Layered necklaces

Get all those pearls and vintage necklaces out from that old jewelery box!

10: Hairstyle: Plaiting is really fashionable. It looks neat and a bonus is that there are so many different plaiting styles. Go crazy!

Winter here in South Africa is going to be a super stylish one.

Design Indaba Expo 2010

Last week saw the annual Design Indaba Expo return to the CTICC in Cape Town. So I headed off to take a look at what was on offer. It felt like every other Capetonian had the same idea judging by the crowds flocking to the Centre. Although I went mainly to drool over the fashion exhibits, there was so much more to see because the Expo also features art, fashion, architectural design, jewelery, photography and household accessories to name but a few. I was amazed at the incredible talent located under one roof . What a proud South African I was.

This is a student from Cape Town College of Fashion Design and her garment made with condoms!

Stiaan Louw had a stall..Love his designs

True to form I hung out at the big fashion ramp where local designers showcased their new ranges. I loved Jacoba – extraordinary talent, well done! After their show I flew over to their stall to see the garments up close. Thought I’d be appalled by the prices but instead, they were really reasonable.

What would an occasion like this be if one didn’t try to “Spot the Celeb” in the crowds. In between gawking at all the exhibits I spotted Noeleen from SABC’s 3 Talk and my special favourite, Pnina Fenster, the Editor of Glamour magazine. I saw her a mile off. She looked absolutely magnificent….all in black with a classy Louis Vuitton handbag. Now, I have a confession to make. Whilst I might have a big mouth when blogging it is quite another matter in real life as I’m really quite shy so it was my friend who rescued me and went up to Pnina and asked if I could take a photo. Thank goodness she said yes! I can honestly say that Pnina is the most down to earth person – and my fear of a “Devil Wears Prada” type editor was totally laid to rest. She was “flattered” that I wanted her picture for my blog. The truth is, I was flattered that she would be a part of it! Pnina gave me her card so I could email her the link to my blog – how amaze is that?? Fashion Bloggers are going to take over the fashion world :P

P.S  Please excuse the quality of my pictures as they were taken with my BlackBerry and not my camera. My camera battery was flat – whoops! Also, a lot of the stalls would not allow photo’s being taken.

Have a Super Stylish Monday everybody.
