For the love of Chanel…

The brand Chanel has been referred to as: “One of the most chic in haute couture”. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel started something that has now become one of the greatest fashion empires to date.

She was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel in France in 1883 and grew up in a world where women’s clothing was uncomfortably restrictive with corsets and tight laces. She changed all that by bringing in the comfortable, casually elegant style of dressing which revolutionized the way women saw themselves. In 1922 she created the most famous of all perfumes - Chanel No.5 – which is still made today. She died in 1971 aged 87.

Chanel Couture defines class, simplicity and originality. It gives a whole new meaning to women’s couture. “She dressed the modern women in clothing for a lifestyle”.

Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel intended to be long-lasting, versatile and affordable. This was given the abbreviation LBD.

Whenever we see somebody dressed in a Chanel gown there is always an instant “ooh” or “aah”. There is nothing more exhilarating than strutting down the street with a Chanel handbag over your shoulders or simply working a pair of Chanel shades.

Chanel has inspired many fashion designers. They “continue to reinforce her concept of uncomplicated classics that inspire many contemporary designers’ ready-to-wear collections”.

I leave you with this…

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous
